10 Content Marketing Strategies You Shouldn’t Do

INTRODUCTION

“Unique, creative, entertaining and beneficial”- These are the primary strategies that must be included in every content marketing process. It’s not just about selling your products or services. It’s building a lasting relationship between you and the potential customers as well.  You have to make your audiences stay on your website by thinking outside of the box on how you would deliver and offer your product without making them feel they are forced and used to buy the products or services you offered. Customers want to feel valued so take a chance to make your website a source of beneficial information. However, there are some things you shouldn’t do when using true content marketing strategies:

THE DETAILS

  • You should not make your website without a purpose. This is really important as it will affect the face of your entire website. Make your purpose and intention clear so that your audience will know what to expect from your website.
  • You should not make a website that is not beneficial to the audience. Here is a hint; anyone will  stay on a particular website when they can get something from it. Incorporate useful facts and information that can persuade the audience why they need to take the products or services offered.
  • You should not post on article directories to get backlinks. This is not a good idea. Many article directories post any kind of content the reason why many of these article directories were blacklisted. You may opt to find highly ranked blogs from your niche. You may also find blog owners who accept blog posts or hire an experienced freelance writer to work for you.
  • You should not blog to sell. Potential customers would probably hate it when pushed to buy a product. They can sense whether you are desperate to sell. If your goal is to catch the audience attention, write content with valuable information or links that can be beneficial for them and inspire them to participate in the discussion.
  • You should not use purely facts alone. This can only bore the audience and drive them away. Simply tell a story and use these facts instead and show them how it connects to their daily living.
  • You should not use “untargeted retargeting”—it is not a good idea to use an unplanned targeting of website audiences with the use of other websites. It’s not only a waste of money but also a waste of time and resources.
  • Don’t give up on new technology because you can’t do it. It turns out that infographics, video, audio and other extras added to a website can dramatically increase your hits and your success. Instead, if you do not know how to deal with a new technology, hire someone, ask someone to show you, or take a class. Your customers will be more at ease if they know you can move with the times and new customers will be drawn to your site.
  • You should not neglect the advantage of new technology just because you think you can’t. Explore and use the advantages of technology. As this world changes, it will be easier to draw in audiences into your website if are using an updated infographics or latest videos. You can hire someone to teach you or do the work for you in case you do not know how to deal with it.
  • You should not only post marketing content on your website or blog. Use the advantage of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest , LinkedIn and similar sites. This can add traffic to your website and it will increase the chance of getting potential customers. Just make sure you have share buttons under your posts so the audience can spread them so quickly.
  • You should not overuse SEO. Though it is very important to enhance your content for search engines to attract the target audience but overusing keywords in your content will draw your potential customer’s conclusion that you are posting content written just for search engine purposes rather than an interesting content.
  • You should not reuse published content. Nothing comes more enticing to read than an original written content with fresh ideas. And besides, copying someone else’s work will only ruin your reputation as it will make you look bad.

The Bottom Line

As technology changes, content marketing strategies also changes. You just need to adapt to the new environment for your customer’s sake. Blog posting must be always enticing to attract the audience. Use the advantage of social networking sites to spread your content or hire someone that can help you make it. Do all the possible ways to deliver your content in unique, creative and updated to draw in audiences on your website.
